All right, all right, just one more post before the new year. This one is significantly less emo.

I went on this cruise around my hard drive, and I found the first chapter of this story I started a while ago. It's one of those really cliche high school fics, and I'm not quite sure why I'm posting it, since it'll just be another WIP on the list, but ah. I have no excuse. Humor me. :}

If you end up reading past this bit, I hope you enjoy!

Okay I am wasting valuable studying time here but I am ANGRY and I need to VENT MY FRUSTRATIONS

I have been planning since Thanksgiving to study for the MCAT during my class-free January term, and then take it on Jan. 29. I bought a book, I planned out a studying schedule, I told all my friends, I cleared out my schedule the week before the test. But I didn't start to register until today. I thought back to how SAT registration worked, and figured, oh, it's two months away. I have plenty of time.

LIES!
LIES!
LIES!

Those of you who knew me in my junior/senior year of high school know that I am not exactly passive when it comes to the higher education admissions process. I am, in fact, borderline obsessive. I have read a lot about taking the MCAT, about the med school admissions process, etc. I've read through the entire premed section of MIT's Careers Office website.

Nowhere does it say how rapidly testing sites fill up. Nor how few testing sites there are.

It is fully 1.5 months before Jan. 29. Any reasonable person would think, oh, that is plenty of time. I will be fine. No! It is not fine! Every testing site within 100 miles of Boston, NYC, Dallas, Austin, College Station, or Houston is completely filled through May. The only reason later testing sites are still open is because you can't register for them yet.

WTF!

This is important information! Why did I not read anything about this? Not everyone will sign up for a testing date the instant it is available by default! I know premeds are usually pretty anal-retentive but seriously, who expects 5 months in advance to be too late?

AUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHH

Luckily I am not applying until next year, so I am not actually that screwed. But my plans!! My beautiful plans!!! Grrrr.
